It is essential that your child’s eyes are examined at a very early age. Most children will not know how clear their sight should be and having uncorrected vision could lead to problems at school which could affect yours child’s development.
We recommend their first eyecare consultation takes place at the age of 3, and even sooner if you feel that they have a problem such as a turn in their eye.
The visual system develops between age 2-8 years and these years are a window of opportunity for effective treatment of squints and lazy eyes, but early intervention is key here.
Don’t worry if your child cannot read letters yet, we can use pictures to assess the level of their vision.
For children we recommend Optomap digital retinal imaging too as this gives the optometrist the most detailed view of the retina and provides a photographic record of their eye health.
We try to make the consultation as fun as possible thus enabling us to achieve the best results.
